Oshawa Public Libraries had its early beginnings in 1864 as a Mechanic's Institute in the Village of Oshawa. In 1909, we were gifted our first library building funded by Andrew Carnegie which was replaced by our current central library in 1954. We now boast 4 branches serving a population of 170,000.
